Summer Hiking
Bohinj offers a multitude of spectacular summer hikes to suit all abilities, many of which start from the front door of Bohinj Chalet. An easy family hike is a circular walk around the lake (12km), which should take between
3-4 hours. For the more adventurous is the hike up to Vogel (1922m) which offers spectacular vistas of the Julian Alps and across to Triglav. Other hikes offer panorama views down Lake Bohinj. A series of walking maps and guides are aviable for guests to use in the chalet.

Climb Triglav
The 2864m limestone peak called Triglav (Three Heads) has been a source of inspiration and an object of devotion for Slovenes for generations. Being the highest point in Slovenia, Triglav is usually inaccessible to hikers from late October to early June. August and particularly September and October are the best times to make the climb. There are about 20 different ways to reach the top of Triglav offering varying degrees of difficulty. The main approaches in from the south from Bohinj.

Visit Savica Waterfalls
One of the reasons people come to Bohinj is to hike to this magnificent waterfall, which cuts deep into a gorge 60m below. The waterfall, the source of Slovenia’s longest and mightiest river is 4 km from Bohinj Chalet can be easily reached by footpath. The falls are among the most impressive sights in the Julian Alps.

Adventure Sports
A variety of local companies
in Bohinj offer a range of adventure activities, including canyoning, hydrospeed, rafting and tandem paraglider flights. There are also high rope courses and walkways, and giant swings.

Fish on Lake Bohinj
Lake Bohinj is home to lake trout and char, and the jade coloured Sava Bohinjka is rich in brown trout and grayling. You can buy day fishing licenses from the Bohinj tourist information centre. The season extends from March to late October.

Horse Riding
Horse riding can be arranged with through the Bohinj tourist information office. A local ranch offering a range of guided tours on sturdy Icelandic ponies lasting from one hour to three days.

Cycle in National Park
Bicycles and mountain bikes can be rented easily and offers an ideal means of transport around Triglav National Park.
